Animal Assisted Therapy
Overview
Our Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) program brings the healing power of animals directly into our homes and classrooms. Staff members can certify their own pets to participate in therapy, creating individualized, meaningful interactions for youth.
Whether through household pets or classroom animals, AAT fosters empathy, responsibility, and trust. The presence of animals often encourages youth to open up, regulate emotions, and engage more fully in their care.
Animal Assisted Therapy provides:
Individualised interactions with staff certified therapy animals
Opportunities to build empathy, responsibility, and nurturing skills
Classroom and household animals used as therapeutic tools and teaching partners
A safe, motivating context for practising social and emotional skills
