Betamarsh Independent Program

The Betamarsh Independent Program has evolved as an extension of the After Saratoga and Homestead Life Skills Programs to provide continued care and support to adolescents in the community. Since these adolescents have experienced a variety of placements, maintained continuity of care while living independently seems the best approach to helping them reintegrate into the community. This is most successful in their own setting (apartment) geared specifically to an individualized program, while maintaining daily contact with the After Saratoga and Homestead Life Skills Program staff. Betamarsh Independent Program participants receive feedback from staff, employers and educational resources on a regular basis, while also participating in group and individual discussions and community activities. These adolescents put into practice life skills on a daily basis, and approach new challenges in a community environment. Responsibility, consideration, cooperation and accountability are stressed as they interlock with daily independent life skills.
