Referrals & Admission

Betamarsh Referral Process

Referrals for residential admission are received directly from Children’s Services Agencies. Case/Placement workers are requested to call the Executive Director to seek availability at Betamarsh Incorporated. If space is obtainable, the referring worker may fax or email a referral package. A service agreement will be sent back to the worker outlining the specific services, supports, expectations, and costs associated with the care and treatment of the child. If both parties agree that the youth is suitable for the programs offered at Betamarsh Incorporated, the youth may be placed.
Betamarsh Incorporated expects the referring Society to send an information package, which includes a brief social history, court probation orders, assessments, and any information that may be useful in planning for the youth. It is the belief of Betamarsh Incorporated that in order to provide affective treatment that staff should be aware of the Society’s plans for the youth. A summary is written for all referred youth, which includes a baseline assessment that determines the focus of treatment, as well as recommendations as to what Betamarsh can offer this individual. A placement review may be requested by Betamarsh, his/her Social Worker, and/or the youth to determine further needs of the youth and to obtain their input to the placement and treatment plan.
A similar process is followed for Supported Independent Living and Transitional Support Services referrals. Agencies are to phone Betamarsh Incorporated to seek availability, if both parties agree that support can be offered then an agreement is developed with the specific services, supports, expectations, and costs associated with the care and treatment of the youth.
If the decision is to proceed with the placement, arrangements for pre-placement visits are encouraged. The purpose of pre-placement visits is to ensure that this placement is a fit for the referred youth.
